Traveling in Oceania

Geographically, Oceania is composed of 16 independent countries and 16 associated dependencies. The countries which are part of the continent are the following: Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji Islands, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Almost all of these names already sound like a dream!
Other islands also are attached to the Oceanic continent: Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Norfolk Island, New Caledonia, Easter Island, French Polynesia, American Samoa, Tokelau, Wake Island, Wallis and Futuna, Hawaii, Indonesia, Johnston Atoll and the Midways Islands.
For many world travelers, when we talk about this end-of-the-world continent, what do we immediately think of? Well, even before I got to know it, having lived in Noumea for a few months in 2009, I could already see: white sandy islets, coral reefs, a tropical climate pleasant to live in, extraordinary underwater depths in turquoise waters, Tahiti and Bora Bora, honeymoons in islands that surely have the most beautiful beaches in the world, coconut trees, … In short, all the things that make you dream and will make you look like you’re in a postcard.
I had the opportunity to discover these Pacific islands in 2009 when I moved to Noumea for 6 months. What a pleasure to discover scuba diving and coral reefs in these corners of the world, the Loyalty Islands or the superb Pine Island. I think I fell in love with the sweetness of islands lifestyle.
After a few years spent in the Indian Ocean (Mayotte Island, Tanzania (North and Zanzibar), Mozambique, Madagascar, Reunion Island), and then a year in South-East Asia, I’ve decided to go back to the Southern Hemisphere, in another postcard: French Polynesia.
I am currently living in the middle of the Oceania continent, and I have already had the opportunity to discover many islands of French Polynesia, New Zealand and Easter Island. You don’t even have to go very far. Indeed, it is enough for me today to take a ferry of one hour to go on the island of Moorea, just opposite Tahiti. Already a real paradise.
On this page, you will find all our travel stories and good tips on the Oceania continent. For the moments, the articles are only about French Polynesia, Easter Island and New Zealand, but I hope I’d be able to give you soon good tips about the Cook Islands (Rarotonga and Aitutaki in particular), Hawaii and many others. The Australian cities will also be on the program (Canberra, Darwin, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne or Cairn), as well as the discovery of the Australian national parks during a trip in the land of kangaroos.
I wish you a good reading!
