Many of us are looking for a way to escape from our daily life, to change our environment, to kind of live a dream. This section gathers all the
dream destinations mentioned in our travel blog. On the program: the discovery of African islands, Polynesian islands, and many others!
A dream destination? Here is a delicate subject to approach actually, as the things that make us dream and escape can be really different. For that matter, my travel blog is the proof of it… I lived in many places around the world, but always beautiful, with a tropical climate, usually with a lagoon, beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear water, in short: the definition, for many people, of a heavenly place, a kind of small paradise. Is it really that true? Let’s let our mind dream for a moment, shall we?
On this blog page, the goal was to gather all the vacation destinations and dream trips of people around the world. Afterwards, I realize that this is quite impossible, as an idyllic setting for some will not be for others. However, for many people, it is often the “sun destination” that comes up anyway. I would even be willing to bet that if you ask 100 people what their ideal destination is, where they’d like to go on vacation, where to stay for a honeymoon or as newlyweds, you are almost certain that what will come up the most are places under the sun, among all the islands of the world. On the program, surely: coconut palms, a volcanic island, a tropical forest, sandy beaches, turquoise waters, wild nature, overwater bungalows, beautiful underwater world and many others… What does this place look like, quickly? Well, I’d say all the tropical islands at the end of the world, or almost: Hawaii, Zanzibar, Bora Bora, the Maldives, Bali, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Reunion Island…

Honestly, I don’t think I’m that wide off the mark, and that’s one of the reasons why I get so many emails telling me how a dream location the place where I live, in French Polynesia, is. In people’s imagination, having a breathtaking vacation often rhymes with idleness and the most beautiful beaches in the world. It would be interesting to understand why, isn’t it? I would say at first sight that (and I’m not the one who said it) living under the sun is always easier, right? However, these people are only looking for a dream vacation and not to go live abroad, most of the time. Maybe that’s it: they want to feel what it’s like to live in an idyllic setting, in the middle of the Indian or Pacific Ocean, who knows… if only for a moment.
However, it is very often a tourist destination, a busy seaside resort par excellence. I’m simplifying a bit because of course not everyone is attracted in spending vacations in the Bahamas, Aruba or Copacabana… But very often, it is (unfortunately) not the cultural destinations, nor the UNESCO world heritage sites that stand out.
To moderate my words a bit, I would probably tend to say that everything really depends on your life, and most probably on where you live. If I use myself as an example, I live all year round under the sun with turquoise water, palm trees, and I have the chance to admire these landscapes daily. To recharge my batteries, I am always looking for new destinations, but especially a general change of scenery. That’s why I often tell people that I rather live in the warmth and go on vacation in cold countries. I went to see the American West and the breathtaking landscapes of the national parks in the North of the country, for example. The same goes for New Zealand. I’m not so keen on lounging on paradisiacal beaches, even if I have to admit that it’s still nice, isn’t it? Among my dreams: Lapland, Spitzberg, Greenland, or Alaska!
If you are looking for a little escape, and ideas for your vacations, this page is made for you. Everything is not here yet, and I unfortunately started my travel blog way too late. So, I won’t be able to write about all the destinations I had the opportunity to see during our trips.
I wish you a nice discovery!
