Hi, it’s Sylvain! Following Aurélie’s articles on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, I’ve received many requests for advice on where to stay in Mahé. I have to admit, this is the first time I’ve written an article about the Seychelles. Mahé is the Seychelles’ main island. For many people, the Seychelles are a dream destination, with coconut palms, turquoise waters, and fine sandy beaches. Mahé is an essential stop on any Seychelles vacation, combining Creole culture, plenty of activities, and beautiful surroundings. To help you plan your stay in paradise, I’ve done my research and selected places to stay on Mahé for every budget and travel style. I’m sure you’ll find something that suits you—or at least I hope so!

Where to stay in Mahé? Discover the best areas and hotels
Let’s start with the best places to stay in Mahé. As mentioned above, Mahé is the main island and therefore the most developed. The Seychelles’ international airport is located near Victoria, Mahé’s capital. Victoria can therefore be a convenient starting point for your trip. We’ll return to this in a future article to give you an overview of what to see in the capital.
And that’s not all! A stay in or around Victoria is a great base for exploring the island and enjoying a wide range of activities. You’ll also be close to the capital’s must-see attractions (the Victoria Botanical Gardens, the Sir Selwyn Clarke Seychelles Market, the Clock Tower, etc.). It’s also the area where you’ll find the widest choice of accommodation on Mahé. That’s definitely worth keeping in mind.
Victoria is in the north of the island. You can head a little farther north while remaining close to the capital. The north is a very popular area and you’ll soon see why. This is where you’ll find Mahé’s most beautiful beaches, Anse Vallon and Anse Major, with turquoise water and postcard-perfect white sand. Don’t you just love it?
West Mahé is a great choice for hikers. You won’t be disappointed. You’ll be very close to the Morne Seychellois National Park, which offers great walks for all levels, with breathtaking views. It’s also a quieter, more family-friendly area, away from the bustle of the north.
Now let’s head south, where the atmosphere and scenery are completely different. The south of the island is wilder, unspoiled and authentic, away from the main tourist areas. If you really want to get away from it all, the south of the island is the place to go. The south is also home to beautiful beaches that are particularly popular with surfers. You can also immerse yourself in the Seychellois (Creole) culture, through its local restaurants, fishing villages, and everyday island life. The only drawback is that you’ll need a car whenever you want to explore another part of the island. I’d recommend DiscoverCars, a reliable car rental comparison site that I regularly use.
As you can see, each area of Mahé has something different to offer. Your choice will really depend on the type of vacation you’re looking for. Of course, if you’re staying on Mahé for several days, you can easily split your stay between different parts of the island. Constance Ephelia
Constance Ephelia is a beautiful luxury property on Mahé overlooking the Indian Ocean—a wonderful sight. You can enjoy first-class facilities: restaurants, bars, swimming pool, spa and sauna. The luxurious rooms feature private tropical gardens, spacious living areas, and beautiful bathrooms. What’s more, some of the villas and suites offer breathtaking views of the hills or the ocean. Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it?
Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa
This five-star hotel in northern Mahé also offers beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. With an infinity pool, spa and gym, you’re sure to have a great vacation! The hotel’s restaurant specializes in Creole cuisine. One of its greatest strengths is its location near Beau Vallon Beach, an excellent spot for diving and relaxing by the sea. This is truly one of the best hotels in Mahé.
STORY Seychelles
Located 4 km from Victoria, STORY Seychelles offers modern villas and suites with ocean views. The villas and suites offer a high level of comfort, and some even have private pools. Facilities include seven restaurants, a central swimming pool, and a gym. Its convenient location also makes it a great base for relaxing and exploring Mahé.
L'Escale Resort Marina & Spa
L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa is an excellent choice if you’re looking for exceptional facilities: an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a gym and lush landscaped gardens. But that’s not all! There’s also a gourmet restaurant, sauna and hot tub. What’s more, it’s right next to Mahé’s magnificent white-sand beaches, ideal for scuba diving and relaxing haha!
Four Seasons Resort Seychelles
Located in Petite Anse in Baie Lazare, the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles offers a peaceful, heavenly setting in the south of the island of Mahé. What’s more, its facilities are designed to make your stay as enjoyable as possible: spa, gym, swimming pool and even a pavilion dedicated to water sports. If you’re looking for one of the best resort hotels in Mahé, away from the hustle and bustle of the north, this is an excellent option. Although I never stayed at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora when I lived in Polynesia, I’ve only ever heard positive feedback about the brand, which remains a benchmark in luxury hospitality.
Chateau Elysium
To round off this selection, here’s a different type of accommodation that is every bit as luxurious: Chateau Elysium. Located in Beau Vallon, this château offers panoramic sea views, spacious suites (living room + terrace) and luxurious villas (with private pool). The postcard-perfect setting is ideal for relaxing, snorkeling and more. One thing is certain: there will be plenty to keep you busy.

Dream villas in Mahé: luxury and privacy
Ocean View Villa - Beauvallon villas
This exceptional villa is situated on the seafront with private access to the famous Beauvallon beach and a tropical garden with terrace. The air-conditioned villa has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, with a luxurious lounge and fully equipped kitchen. Bonus: it’s only 12 km from the international airport, which is handy if you want to explore other islands during your stay!
Blu Vista Villa
Located in the north of Mahé, this luxury air-conditioned villa with private pool and parking is less than 1 km from the white sandy beach of Anse Machabée. The villa has 4 bedrooms, a lounge, a fully equipped kitchen and 4 bathrooms. It offers excellent comfort for your vacation with family or friends. Nearby activities include snorkeling and hiking.

Cap-sud self catering
Cap-sud Self-Catering offers stunning sea views close to Turtle Bay beach in the south of Mahé. This vacation home has comfortable family rooms! From the terrace of the house you can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains and outdoor facilities (barbecue, private garden).
Villa Lima
This modern, air-conditioned vacation home gets rave reviews! It’s particularly popular for romantic getaways for two (think honeymoon!). Villa Lima has 2 bedrooms, kitchenette and terrace with exceptional sea views. It has a quiet seaside location.
Chrisent Residence
Chrisent Residence is a beautiful 2-bedroom vacation home with a well-appointed exterior: lush garden, terrace and barbecue. Hotel La Roussette
A small family-run hotel with a warm welcome, Hotel La Roussette offers bright, modern rooms with stunning ocean views. There is a bar-restaurant, a large swimming pool, a library and a pool table. The hotel is just 10 minutes from the village of Anse Royale.
L'Habitation Cerf Island
The location of this hotel is a little unusual: it is on the Cerf island, just 10 minutes by boat from Mahé. Here you can relax with an outdoor pool and tropical garden, while enjoying sea view rooms. Away from the hustle and bustle of tourism, you can explore the beaches and St Anne’s Marine National Park.
Domaine de Bacova
Domaine de Bacova offers private bungalows and villas surrounded by a beautiful garden with access to a beautiful beach. Guest Houses / Apartments
Jamelah Beach Guest House
Situated on the beach at Anse aux Pins, this guesthouse offers a magnificent setting. The facilities are of a high standard, with private access to the beach, free breakfast on request and access to a hotel swimming pool just 2 minutes away. A word of advice: if you’re interested in this accommodation, book well in advance as availability goes fast! It’s a really good deal.
Evergreen Apartments
Evergreen Apartments offer colorfully decorated studios in the heart of a valley, surrounded by nature. You’ll be surrounded by fruit trees and beautiful flowers. The studios are warm and colorful and will make you feel welcome with all the facilities you need. Its location, 15 km from Victoria airport, is also an advantage.
Residence Argine
This spacious apartment is ideally located in Victoria, close to the beaches of Anse aux Pins and Turtle Bay. The interior is equally pleasant. You’ll have 2 bedrooms, a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. Bonus: an outdoor swimming pool, which is rare for vacation rentals.
Ronce Villa
Ronce Villa is spacious, pleasant, well equipped and particularly welcoming. Numerous reviews praise the host Sophia’s welcome and advice. Situated in the heart of a tropical garden, Ronce Villa is ideal for a relaxing stay on Mahé. Bonus: the apartment is very affordable.
Hilltop Boutique Hotel
Located in the heart of Victoria, this hotel offers a range of self-catering apartments. For a budget stay, I’d recommend the 40-square-metre studio apartment, which has everything you need and views of the city and mountains. If you want to take advantage of the capital’s must-see attractions and nearby activities, you won’t be disappointed.
Affordable accommodation in Mahé: Low price quality
Lazare Picault Hotel
Situated on a hillside with stunning views of the Indian Ocean or the mountains, as the name suggests, this 2-star hotel is located in Baie Lazare. The hotel has everything you need including a bar, garden and free parking. It really is one of the cheapest hotels on the island, with very good reviews.
Chez Julie
Conviviality is the key word at Chez Julie! This simply and warmly decorated vacation home is set in beautiful surroundings, close to the beaches of Anse à la Mouche and Anse Louis. Its inviting tropical garden and facilities offer all the comforts you need for a pleasant stay.
Maison Soleil
Maison Soleil is what it sounds like! It offers two bright apartments in warm tones where you’ll feel right at home. Both have their own kitchen/dining area, bedroom and bathroom. If you’re looking for good value accommodation, especially in the south of Mahé, Maison Soleil is definitely an excellent choice.
La Rocaille
La Rocaille is a vacation home that combines authentic Creole style with modern comforts. It offers a peaceful and pleasant environment with a fully equipped kitchen, a terrace and a garden with fruit trees. Bonus: it’s very close to the beach of Baie Lazare.
South Hill Villa
This beautiful 4-star villa may surprise you with how affordable it is to rent. If you’re staying as a couple, the double room overlooking the garden offers excellent value for money. It is well equipped and comfortable, ideal for hikers.
