Hello, here I am again with a full article on where to stay in Banff, Canada! I think you might be surprised to learn that I first discovered this town, and indeed this country, in 2018. Yes, I know, that was a long time ago, haha! It was during my road trip in the United States that I took the opportunity to stop off in Canada and discover Banff National Park. I can tell you that it was simply gorgeous: turquoise lakes, cliffs and mountains! In a word: wow! I was lucky enough to spend a week there and, to be honest, I would have loved to stay longer. But all good things must come to an end! As you can see, I think Banff National Park is definitely worth a visit. My advice is to give it a good week. You won’t regret it! You’ll be in a picture-postcard setting the whole time.
Now that I’ve said enough, let’s get down to business! If you’re in the middle of planning your trip and Banff National Park is on your itinerary, I’ve put together this article with the best places to stay in Banff. As always, I’ve made sure there’s something for every taste and budget. I’m pretty sure you’ll find what you’re looking for!
If you continue your stay in the area, I invite you to read our complete guides to find out where to stay in Canada, but especially where to stay in the town of Jasper, at the end of the Icefields Parkway (magical!), or where to stay in Edmonton if you’re continuing your trip through Alberta.
Where to stay in Banff: A guide to the best areas and types of accommodation
Before we get down to business, I thought you’d like to take a quick look at the different types of accommodation in Banff. Simply put, there are three options:
- Banff Downtown: Downtown, close to amenities
If you want to enjoy the town side of Banff, you’re in for a treat! With its lively streets, cool cafes, local shops and, most importantly, great restaurants, it’s ideal if you want to soak up the town atmosphere. On the other hand, as you might have guessed, accommodation in this area is more expensive. - Lake Louise: a lakeside getaway in the heart of nature
If you want to immerse yourself in nature and, above all, peace and quiet, a stay by the lake promises to be a wonderful experience! Imagine waking up to a turquoise lake surrounded by mountains. It’s a dream come true! If you like walking, you’ll be more than happy (trust me!). Granted, you’ll be further away from the town of Banff, but in my opinion the scenery is more than worth it! - Canmore: the cheapest option, yet close to Banff
Last but not least, Canmore is a great alternative if you don’t want to blow your accommodation budget! It’s only a twenty minute drive from Banff. In my opinion, it’s a great option if you want to explore Banff on a budget while enjoying the area’s breathtaking scenery.

The best hotels and places to stay in Banff
Banff's best hotels: between luxury and comfort
Since that’s what you’re here for, let’s start by discovering the best hotels in Banff. As I said, accommodation in the town of Banff is quite expensive, but it’s also where you’ll find the most choice. The hotels range from mid-range to luxury.
Fairmont Banff Springs
Start with the Fairmont Banff Springs! You’ll be staying in a magnificent château in the heart of a truly magnificent setting. With 11 restaurants, a world-class spa and two swimming pools (including a heated outdoor pool), you’ll be spoilt for choice! And that’s not all! If you enjoy outdoor activities, you can go skiing, golfing and even horse riding. Whether you’re travelling with friends or family, there’s something for everyone! Between the charm of the Scottish castle, the spectacular views and the luxurious amenities, I think this hotel is sure to please.
The Rimrock Resort Hotel Banff
For the most luxurious experience, this 5-star hotel offers an exceptional setting with panoramic views of the valley and Mount Rundle. You’ll be close to downtown Banff (just a 6-minute drive) and the famous Upper Hot Springs! The rooms are spacious, modern and luxurious. On the service side, you’ll find an indoor pool, two highly acclaimed restaurants and, to top it all off, a luxurious spa. What more could you ask for? Between you and me, everything is in place for a unique experience of luxury and majesty!
Banff Park Lodge
This is a mid-range hotel, but just as much appreciated by travellers who have had the opportunity to stay here! It has to be said that its location is simply incredible, right in the middle of the Banff mountains. Personally, just looking at the pictures of the snow-capped mountains is enough to make you want to stay there! On top of that, you’ll be able to enjoy rooms with all the comforts (king-size bed, queen-size bed, and even jacuzzi in some cases). And that’s not all! For a totally relaxing stay after a busy day in the park, you can take advantage of the hammam and indoor pool, and treat your taste buds to a meal in the restaurant! In short, Banff Park Lodge is a haven of peace that you’re sure to appreciate!
Moose Hotel and Suites
If you want to be in the heart of the action, right in the centre of Banff, discover the Moose Hotel and Suites! This hotel offers comfortable rooms and suites, some with an added bonus: a fireplace (for a cozier, fireside atmosphere, that’s nice). As for the hotel’s facilities, you’ll be delighted with a rooftop terrace overlooking the mountains, two hot tubs, an indoor pool, a spa and a gym! One thing’s for sure: you’ll never be bored! For an exceptional stay in the heart of Banff town, this is the place to be.

Banff Inn
If you’re looking for value for money, yet close to downtown Banff and all its amenities, this is the hotel for you! There’s a choice of rooms and suites, depending on the number of guests. Either way, they’re spacious and well-appointed (perfect after a day of hiking or skiing). You’ll also have access to a Jacuzzi, hammam and sauna, ideal for relaxing. And to recharge your batteries after your outdoor activities, the on-site restaurant serves pizzas and poutines (everything you need for a good meal, haha). With its warm atmosphere, great service and value for money, I think this is a very good choice.
Silver Creek Lodge
The Silver Creek Lodge, located in Canmore, close to Banff National Park (4 km away), is the ideal option for a comfortable stay in the Rockies. As mentioned above, accommodation in Canmore is less expensive than in Banff. Plus, the hotel offers modern, fully equipped suites with kitchens, king-size beds and fireplaces! And for even more relaxation, you can take advantage of the spa with hammam, massages and treatments. In my opinion, this hotel combines comfort, relaxation and an exceptional setting at a better price than Banff. Of course, it’s up to you!
