I’m back with a complete guide to where to stay in Banff, Canada! You may be surprised to learn that I first discovered both the town and the country in 2018. Yes, I know—that was quite a while ago, haha! During my road trip through the United States, I took the opportunity to cross into Canada and explore Banff National Park. It was simply gorgeous: turquoise lakes, cliffs, and mountains everywhere you looked. In a word: wow! I was lucky enough to spend a week there and, honestly, I would have loved to stay longer. But all good things must come to an end! As you can probably tell, I think Banff National Park is well worth visiting. My advice is to set aside a full week. You won’t regret it—you’ll be surrounded by picture-postcard scenery the entire time.

If you want to experience the livelier side of Banff, this is a great choice. With bustling streets, inviting cafes, local shops, and, most importantly, excellent restaurants, downtown is ideal for soaking up the town’s atmosphere. As you might expect, however, accommodations here tend to be more expensive. - Lake Louise: a lakeside escape surrounded by nature
For anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy some peace and quiet, staying by the lake can be a wonderful experience. Imagine waking up beside a turquoise lake framed by mountains—it feels like a dream! Hikers will be especially happy here (trust me!). You’ll be farther from the town of Banff, of course, but I think the scenery more than makes up for it. - Canmore: the most affordable option near Banff
Last but not least, Canmore is a great alternative if you don’t want accommodations to eat up your entire budget. It’s only about a 20-minute drive from Banff. In my opinion, it’s an excellent base for exploring the area more affordably while still enjoying the beautiful Rocky Mountain scenery.

The Best Hotels and Places to Stay in Banff
Banff's Best Hotels: From Comfortable to Luxurious
Let’s begin with the best hotels in Banff. As I mentioned, staying in the town of Banff can be fairly expensive, but this is also where you’ll find the widest selection. The options range from comfortable mid-range hotels to luxury properties.
Fairmont Banff Springs
Let’s start with the Fairmont Banff Springs. Here, you’ll stay in a magnificent château surrounded by an equally impressive landscape. With 11 restaurants, a world-class spa, and two swimming pools—including a heated outdoor pool—you’ll have plenty to choose from. Outdoor enthusiasts can also go skiing, play golf, or even go horseback riding. Whether you’re traveling with friends or family, there’s something for everyone. Between the charm of the Scottish-style castle, the sweeping views, and the upscale amenities, I think this hotel has a lot to offer.
Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection
Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection is currently closed for a property-wide renovation and is scheduled to reopen in July 2026. Perched above the Bow Valley near the Banff Upper Hot Springs, the redesigned resort is expected to feature panoramic mountain views, four distinctive dining experiences, and a renewed focus on luxury and wellness. Because the hotel has not yet reopened, check the official property information before planning a stay.
Banff Park Lodge
Banff Park Lodge is a mid-range hotel that receives plenty of praise from travelers who have stayed there. Its location is a major draw, right in the heart of Banff and surrounded by mountain scenery. Personally, one look at the photos of the snow-capped peaks is enough to make me want to book a room! The accommodations are comfortable, with king- or queen-size beds and Jacuzzi rooms available in some categories. After a busy day in the park, you can unwind in the steam room or indoor pool, then enjoy a meal at one of the on-site restaurants. Overall, Banff Park Lodge is a relaxing and convenient place to stay.
Moose Hotel and Suites
For a stay right in the heart of the action, take a look at the Moose Hotel and Suites in downtown Banff. It offers comfortable rooms and suites, some with a fireplace for an extra-cozy atmosphere. The amenities are another highlight: a rooftop area with mountain views, two hot pools, an indoor pool, a spa, and a fitness room. There is plenty here to help you relax between outings. Banff Inn
If you’re looking for good value close to downtown Banff and its amenities, Banff Inn is worth considering. Silver Creek Lodge
Silver Creek Lodge, located in Canmore near Banff National Park, is a comfortable base for exploring the Rockies. As mentioned above, accommodations in Canmore are generally less expensive than in Banff. The lodge offers modern, fully equipped suites with kitchens, king-size beds, and fireplaces. For even more relaxation, you can visit the spa for its steam room, massages, and treatments. In my opinion, this property combines comfort, relaxation, and a beautiful setting at a more affordable price than many Banff options. The final choice, of course, is yours!

Other amenities include a sauna, fitness room, and campfire areas—perfect for spending time together and roasting marshmallows. Hikers will also appreciate the easy access to nearby trails. Choose one of these chalets and you can look forward to a peaceful, authentic stay. Personally, this is my favorite kind of accommodation!
Basecamp Suites Banff
Located in downtown Banff, Basecamp Suites Banff combines comfort with easy access to the Rockies. The property offers a selection of spacious suites for three to nine guests, each with a full kitchen—perfect for preparing your own meals. Better still, the suites come with beautiful mountain views. Private on-site parking adds convenience, and you’ll be close to shops, restaurants, and hiking trails. Honestly, this place checks all the boxes, and you’ll feel at home in no time.
Cougar Street Mountain Rental
Cougar Street Mountain Rental is a lovely apartment for a comfortable stay in Banff. With two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a spacious living room, there is plenty of room to spread out. Another nice touch is the garden with a barbecue. You’ll also be only 10 minutes from downtown, with restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby. Convenient, isn’t it? This apartment keeps things simple while providing everything you need for an enjoyable stay in Banff.
Banff Beaver Cabins
Banff Beaver Cabins offers two cabins just meters from Banff Avenue. Both sleep four guests, with the main difference being their size: one provides 25 square meters more space than the other. Each cabin has two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and an outdoor area. Their biggest advantage is the location—you’ll be just one block from the main street and all its restaurants and shops. In other words, this is an easy option to recommend.
Hillside Bungalows
Guest reviews agree that Hillside Bungalows is a peaceful place to stay in Banff. The property sits in a quiet neighborhood about a 15-minute walk from downtown. As the name suggests, it offers two bungalows that combine an authentic feel with modern comfort. Each one has a kitchen, a cozy living room, and a private bathroom, along with beautiful mountain views. You’ll also be right near the ski shuttle stops. All in all, it’s a relaxing base after a busy day in the park, without putting you too far from downtown Banff.
