Let’s take a step back in time with this comprehensive guide to the best places to stay in Grand Teton! To tell you the truth, it was during my road trip to the United States a few years ago that I was lucky enough to discover the beautiful Grand Teton National Park! Between hiking and photography, I spent a good week exploring this park! The views of the Grand Teton mountain range, the crystal clear lakes (Jenny Lake and Jackson Lake), the local wildlife (bison, elk, etc.) and the wildness of the park are simply sublime. Honestly, Grand Teton is my favourite part of the trip! Although it’s still relatively unknown, I can assure you that it’s well worth the detours! Anyway, I hope I’ve at least convinced you to spend a few days there. Trust me, you won’t regret it!
To help you organise this part of your trip, I’ve put together a guide to the best places to stay in and around Grand Teton National Park. As you can probably imagine, camping is the main type of accommodation in the park. As for hotels, apartments and cottages, you’ll find them all around the park!
Why go to Grand Teton National Park?
Well, as you’ve probably guessed by now, I have nothing but praise for Grand Teton National Park! The scenery is simply magnificent! You’ll leave the park with images that fill your eyes. For me, it’s simply a paradise for nature lovers. What’s more, because it’s less well known than Yellowstone, you can feel almost alone in the world, depending on the viewpoints and hikes you take! Speaking of overlooks, the park has several, each with its own unique panorama. As well as colourful lakes and mountainous landscapes, you might come across bison, elk and even grizzly bears! I wasn’t lucky enough to see any grizzly bears, but I did see moose and bison! I must say it was quite impressive. So what do you think?
Where to stay in Grand Teton: The best places to stay and tips for choosing
To cut to the chase, I wanted to tell you about the best places to stay around Grand Teton National Park. You’ll have several options to get as close to the park as possible and make the most of it:
- Jackson: Located just south of Grand Teton Park, I’d say this is the most convenient place to stay! You’ll be close to some nice restaurants and bars (great if you want to treat yourself after a day of hiking!) There’s no shortage of places to stay, from luxury hotels to more basic motels.
- Grand Teton Village: You couldn’t be closer to the park entrance! It’s also where most visitors choose to stay. If you don’t mind the hustle and bustle, the village is still a good mix of ‘nature and comfort’.
- Cody: I imagine if you’re travelling to this part of the USA, you’re also planning to visit Yellowstone! In Cody, you’re pretty much in the middle of Yellowstone and Grand Teton at the same time. I think this is a good compromise.
- Wapiti: Situated between Cody and Yellowstone (and therefore further away from Grand Teton), this small town is perfect for a peaceful stay in the heart of nature!
As you can see, each location offers a different and unique experience, so my advice is to make your choice according to your itinerary and your comfort level. Of course, if you’re staying for several days, there’s nothing to stop you from trying different accommodations, atmospheres and views!
