After having discussed and detailed all the lenses for the main and the most famous brands, we move on to the brands that I consider as secondary. Leica is a German brand known for offering quality cameras and lenses at a high cost.
In this page, we’ll introduce you all L-mount lenses, the one developed by Leica Camera AG. The first camera to use this L-mount was the Leica T in April 2014, a 16.5 MP camera which is currently no longer produced. In 2015, the Leica SL was the first full-frame camera of the brand to use this L-mount.
On September 25, 2018, an alliance is formed between Leica Camera AG, Panasonic, and Sigma to produce L-mount lenses and bodies using these lenses.
For information, the L-mount exists in two versions:
- The SL version: it refers to the lenses dedicated to full frame. These lenses work perfectly on an APS-C camera (using the classic crop factor of x1.5),
- The T and TL version: they are lenses dedicated to APS-C cameras of the L mount. These lenses can be mounted on a full frame camera, but the camera will automatically be set to “APS-C mode” to adapt the framing.
Here is a summary of cameras using this L mount.

L-mount Full frame lenses
In 2018, Sigma, Panasonic, and Leica are partnering to produce L-mount lenses, Leica’s native mount. The three brands thus offer a set of lenses, all with autofocus. In any case, if you’re looking for the best l mount lenses, you’ll find what you’re looking for on this page. In case you’re wondering, there are Tamron lenses for L mount for now. To help you in your research, we wrote an article about the best Sigma lenses for Sony E mount. Even if this article is not dedicated to L mount lenses, the Sigma lenses mentioned are also available for L mount. So you can start with the same recommendations if you are looking for the best Sigma lenses for the L mount. I even give you at the beginning of the article, all the links to these L mount lenses.
I intentionally split this page for more simplicity by dissociating manual focus lenses and autofocus lenses.
Autofocus lenses for L-mount - Full frame cameras
You will find below all the manufacturers proposing lenses with autofocus for L-mount full frame cameras:
Leica L mount lenses
Here are all the Leica full-frame lenses designed for the L mount, summarized in the table below. It’s worth noting that the “SL” symbol refers to lenses dedicated to full-frame use by Leica. These lenses are known for their exceptionally high quality, although they tend to be relatively expensive. The range includes a variety of options, including wide-angle zooms, standard focal lengths, and even compact telephoto lenses. The Leica APO-Vario-Elmarit-SL 90-280mm f/2.8-4 is a L mount zoom lens with an excellent performance for example.
Sigma L-mount lenses
Sigma offers two types of lenses adapted to the L mount: the ones noted “DG DN” and those noted “DG”. As a reminder, the acronym “DG” refers to the lenses dedicated to full frame cameras (which also work however on an APS-C camera). Not to be confused with the “DC DN” lenses, which are only dedicated to APS-C cameras. Also, as a reminder, “OS” indicate a lens offering image stabilization.
Here’s the link to check if you’re looking for a firmware update for Sigma L mount lenses.
Here are the 3 types of lenses you will find from Sigma for the L mount:
Sigma DG DN L-mount lenses
Here is the set of Sigma DG DN lenses specifically designed for the L mount. These optics are crafted to meet the needs of full-frame hybrid cameras, to be clearly distinguished from lenses marked “DC DN” intended for APS-C hybrid cameras. The Sigma range offers a wide selection of lenses, providing a considerable variety of choices. You can find ultra-wide-angle focal lengths, whether fixed or zoom, standard focal lengths, macro lenses, and even high-quality super telephoto lenses. Among the notable references, recognized for their very high quality and receiving excellent feedback, are the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art standard zoom, the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art, and the Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary super telephoto zoom.

Sigma DG HSM L-mount lenses
Here are the Sigma DG lenses designed for the L mount, all released between 2018 and 2019. Originally intended for DSLR cameras, these lenses have been adapted for full-frame mirrorless cameras. However, they are heavier and bulkier than the Sigma DG DN and DG DN I lenses, specifically designed for mirrorless cameras. In general, I would recommend opting for the lighter series if you are looking for a Sigma lens for your camera. The range includes only fixed focal lengths, from ultra-wide-angle (14mm) to wide-angle (20 to 24mm), standard focal lengths (35 to 50mm), and finally, small telephoto lenses. It is also worth noting the presence of a macro lens in this series. Most of the lenses are characterized by a very wide maximum aperture of f/1.4.

SIGMA DG DN Contemporary I Series L-mount lenses
The Sigma DG DN – Series I stands out with meticulously crafted lenses, all equipped with a manual aperture ring, a magnetic lens cap, and a fully metal construction. Sigma is consistently introducing compelling options within this Series I. User feedback is overwhelmingly positive for all lenses in this range. A quick overview of the lineup highlights a high-quality fixed wide-angle lens (17mm), perfect for landscape photography, as well as slightly longer fixed focal lengths (but still wide), ranging from 20mm to 24mm. The series also features more standard focal lengths, from 35mm to unconventional ones like the 45mm and 65mm.

Panasonic L-mount lenses
Panasonic introduced its L-mount lenses in 2018 as part of its Lumix S camera system, which includes a few zoom lenses and prime lenses. These lenses are designed to be used with interchangeable lens cameras that use the L-mount lens mount, which is a collaboration between Leica, Sigma, and Panasonic.
The Lumix S series has some fantastic lenses, and two great are the Panasonic Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 L and the Panasonic 70-300mm telephoto zoom lens. The 18mm prime lens is great for low-light photography and creating artistic depth-of-field effects (not so much pronounced though with a wide-angle lens). It has a wide-angle field-of-view, which is perfect for landscapes and architecture photography. The 70-300mm zoom lens is a great choice for capturing distant subjects providing excellent image quality and sharpness. Both of these lenses are excellent options for photographers who use the Lumix S series cameras. Finally, it’s worth noting several budget-friendly lenses, including the 35mm f/1.8, the 50mm f/1.8, or the 85mm f/1.8.
Also noteworthy is the later introduction of lenses labeled as “PRO,” showcasing optics of very high quality. This includes a wide-angle zoom (16-35mm), a classic standard zoom (Panasonic Lumix S PRO 24-70mm f/2.8 L), a bright prime lens (Panasonic Lumix S 50mm f/1.4 Pro L), and finally, two classic telephoto lenses (Panasonic Lumix S PRO 70-200mm f/2.8 O.I.S. L and the same in f/4).
As a reminder, O.I.S lenses from Panasonic are lenses that come with optical image stabilization technology built into them, which helps to reduce camera shake and produce sharper images by compensating for camera movement.
For the 70-200mm telephoto lenses from Panasonic, there are two extenders that will allow you to increase your focal length:
- Panasonic DMW-S TC20 Lumix S – Increases the focal length x2
- Panasonic DMW-S TC14 Lumix S – Increases the focal length x1,4
By the way, here’s the link where you can found all firmware update from Panasonic L mount lenses, especially for the 24-105mm, the two 70-200mm and the 70-300mm. And here’s the Panasonic l mount lenses roadmap !
Manual focus L-mount lenses - Full frame cameras
Several third-party brands offer manual focus lenses for full-frame L-mount cameras. Here is the list of the relevant brands:
- Laowa L lenses
- The 7Artisans lenses L
- Kipon lenses L
- Lensbaby L lenses
- Meyer-Optik Gorlitz Lydith lenses
- TTArtisan L lenses
- Meike lenses L
- Nisi lenses L
Laowa L-mount lenses
Venus Laowa offers a range of lenses designed for the L-mount. All these lenses are manual focus and lack stabilization. The collection mainly consists of prime lenses, with a few ultra-wide-angle zooms like the 10-18mm and 12-24mm. Laowa provides a variety of optics, from the Fish-eye (9mm) to ultra-wide-angle and wide-angle lenses (from 10mm to 24mm). The brand also offers several tilt-shift lenses, including a 15mm and a 20mm. Leveraging its expertise in the field, Laowa presents various macro lenses for close-ups, ranging from the amusing 15mm to the unique 24mm probe, as well as ultra-macro lenses like the 25mm, or more traditional focal lengths like the 85mm, 90mm, or the excellent 100mm.
Among all these lenses, the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO boasts the best reputation, providing excellent macro capabilities with a 2:1 ratio. Reviews for the Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro are also outstanding, highlighting its truly unique aspect as a wide-angle macro lens. For enthusiasts, the 25mm macro offers a magnification of up to 5x (tripod required), and the 24mm Probe captures extraordinary and usually inaccessible images. If you’re interested in wide perspectives for architectural or landscape photography, the Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D and the Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D also have received excellent feedback.
If you’re into macro photography and looking for a L-mount macro lens, don’t hesitate to have a look at these Laowa lenses. Some lenses are offering magnification ratio over 1:1 (24mm, 25mm, 65mm) and some others can be used as a portrait-lens (for example, the Laowa 100mm). A lot of macro photography fans are using a tripod to get a sharper shot and don’t actually care about autofocus on a macro lens.
7Artisans L-mount lenses
7Artisans, a well-known Chinese brand for its budget-friendly lenses, offers a selection for full-frame L-mount cameras. Notably, the 7Artisans 10mm f/2.8 Fisheye L has gained a positive reputation for its performance. The collection includes a 15mm fixed focal length lens for wide-angle shots and more standard focal lengths, such as two 35mm lenses, one of which is a pancake lens. Additionally, there’s a classic 50mm lens with a wide aperture of f/1.05, receiving great reviews for its out-of-focus capabilities.

TTArtisan lenses for L-mount
TTartisan positions itself as a third-party Chinese brand offering a compact range of full-frame lenses for the L mount. The collection includes several manual focus lenses tailored for full-frame L-mount cameras. Notable among them is the TTArtisan 11mm f/2.8 L, which has garnered an excellent reputation, especially in landscape photography, and is priced at a reasonable rate, under €300. The lens lineup encompasses diverse options, such as a fisheye lens (the 11mm) with an expansive 180° angle of view, a wide-angle lens (the 21mm) boasting a large f/1.5 constant aperture—ideal for creating a shallow depth of field and excelling in low-light photography. Additionally, the brand offers standard focal length lenses (50mm) with apertures ranging from f/1.4 to f/1.2, making them perfect for portraiture. For specialized needs, there’s a tilt-shift lens (50mm) and a recent super-telephoto lens (500mm).

Meike lenses for L-mount
Meike stands out as a third-party brand offering a limited selection of lenses for the L mount, at least to my knowledge. It is noteworthy to mention the existence of two standard focal length lenses of 50mm. One of them features an exceptionally wide aperture of f/1.2, while the other opts for a more conventional f/1.7 aperture. This focal length category proves particularly suitable for portrait photography, providing the opportunity to achieve a pleasing background blur, thus highlighting your subject against the background.

NiSi lenses for L-mount
Nisi currently offers only one lens for the L-mount, designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras: the NiSi 15mm f/4 Sunstar ASPH L. This prime ultra-wide-angle lens has a rather good reputation, especially considering its affordable price, at less than 500$.

L-mount lenses - APS-C mirrorless cameras
Bellow, you’ll find a l-mount lenses list for L-mount APS-C cameras. Note that there is no Panasonic L-mount APS-C camera for now.
As mentioned above, Leica proposes several APS-C mirrorless cameras (Leica TL2 and Leica CL). So, in this section, you will find all autofocus and manual focus lenses available for these APS-C L-mount cameras.
As for L-mount full frame cameras, I decided to distinguish autofocus lenses from those offering only manual focus.
L-mount lenses with autofocus - APS-C cameras
Only two manufacturers currently produce lenses with autofocus for APS-C L-mount cameras:
Leica lenses for APS-C L mount (T & TL)
Leica offers some APS-C lenses dedicated to the L mount. The designations “T” and “TL” indicate their compatibility with APS-C sensors. The range includes a wide-angle zoom of 11-23mm, standard focal lengths like 18mm, 18-56mm, 23mm, and 35mm, as well as a 55-135mm zoom for longer focal lengths. A macro lens is also part of the lineup. However, these lenses can be quite challenging to find in conventional markets.

Sigma lenses for APS-C L mount
Sigma now offers a range of autofocus lenses for APS-C cameras with L-mount. For the time being, the choice remains relatively limited, with focal lengths ranging from ultra-wide-angle (10mm) to short telephoto (56mm). For wide shots, such as landscapes, the brand new Sigma 10-18mm ultra-wide-angle zoom is a must-have. If you’re looking for a more versatile focal length, the Sigma 18-50mm offers plenty of options. The range also includes four fixed focal lengths with large apertures (f/1.4), ideal for low light conditions. These include the 16mm, a wide-angle fixed focal length perfect for landscapes or interiors, and the 23mm, 30mm and 56mm, all at f/1.4, which are well suited to street photography, environmental portraits or even tighter compositions where the background is blurred by a very wide aperture. You will find all these lenses under the name DC DN, which indicates their compatibility with APS-C L-mount cameras. Note that none of these lenses are stabilized.

TTArtisan lenses for APS-C L-mount
If you’re looking for affordable manual focus lenses for the L-mount APS-C, TTArtisan offers a range of lenses at budget-friendly prices (under €150/€200). With focal lengths ranging from 7.5mm (fisheye) to 50mm (standard), you can choose according to your photographic style. The 7.5mm fisheye has an excellent reputation for capturing very wide and distorted shots. The brand then offers fairly standard focal lengths, from 23mm to 25mm, 35mm, and 50mm. All these focal lengths are well-suited for street photography and portrait, whether in environmental or tighter compositions. TTArtisan also provides an excellent macro option with its 40mm f/2.8 L lens, which has received very positive reviews. Note that all lenses from the brand are manual focus and do not have stabilization. They can be a great way to experiment with specific focal lengths or try manual focus without breaking the bank.

Kipon lenses for L-mount - APS-C
To my knowledge, Kipon only offers one manual focus lens option for APS-C L mount cameras, with several versions of their 40mm lens, with a (very) wide aperture to create great bokeh.

Adapters for L-mount lenses
Here’s a list of some great adapters for the L-mount. Also, Urth propose a lot of adapters for the L mount (from Nikon F, Canon EF, M49, M42, Minolta, Leica M, Olumpus… to Leica L mount). Check all their adapters here.
I’m coming to the end of this page presenting all the lenses for the L-mount, both for Full Frame and APS-C cameras. If you find any errors or omissions, please do not hesitate to let me know in the comments part! If you want to know more about L-mount cameras, follow the link.
I will of course add all the new L mount lenses that will be released! If you are interested in the “Leica” world, we also wrote a full page with all the lenses for the Leica M mount.

Is Panasonic DMW-S TC14 Lumix S really adapable with L mount lenses? I wondered. The technical datasheet suggested they are for micro 3/4 sensor cameras.
Sadly, I’m not entirely sure !
