List of Canon EF-M lenses
On this page, you will find all the lenses compatible with the Canon EF-M mount. I will naturally provide you with the brand’s lenses but also all the third-party brands that offer lenses for this mount, some with autofocus (Sigma, Tamron), but for most of them, with manual focus. If you think I forgot some lenses, please let me know in a comment.
The Canon EF-M mount, developed in July 2012 by Canon is a mount dedicated to the Canon EOS M mirrorless camera, featuring an APS-C sensor. Canon introduces this mount at the same time as the first Canon mirrorless camera, the Canon M. The EF-M mount lenses fit on the whole EOS-M range, from:

For those wondering, Canon APS-C mirrorless cameras do not have a built-in image stabilizer. The new Canon R5 and R6 (full-frame sensor) are equipped with a 5-axis in-body image stabilization. Admittedly, we are no longer talking about entry-level cameras for beginners here, but rather about cameras costing several thousand euros. If you want to know more about these cameras, I invite you to check our page dedicated to Canon APS-C mirrorless cameras. There we detail all the features and help you choose! However, in June 2022, Canon decides to shake things up a bit by releasing their first two Canon APS-C mirrorless cameras using the RF mount. This changes the game and we can imagine that Canon will decide to produce very quickly lenses adapted for these cameras (they already exist!)
Tables below are sortable. You can therefore classify the lenses of each brand according to the parameters interesting you, by clicking on the desired column (lens diameter, focal length, type of focal length (zooms/primes), etc.).
For anyone who already owns a Canon APS-C mirrorless camera, I have listed here all the lenses for the Canon RF mount, a mount designed for Canon full-frame mirrorless cameras. This might be interesting for people who want to upgrade from a Canon APS-C sensor to a full-frame sensor.

Canon EF-M lenses
The range of lenses for Canon EF-M mount remains very limited, with only 8 lenses available on the catalog. All lenses offer autofocus and are stabilized, with the exception of the 32mm f/1.4 STM and 22mm f/2 STM. All these lenses also accept conventional screw-in filters. Please note that there is no EF-M mount lens in the L-Series that corresponds to Canon’s high-end lenses. The only other possibilities with third-party brands with autofocus are from Sigma, Tamron and Viltrox. However, Samyang/Rokinon offers a large number of high quality lenses with manual focus.

Canon only offers a few EF-M lenses. For those wondering, you’ll be able to use Canon EF lenses (first designed for Full Frame cameras) on your Canon M body. But usually, lenses will be heavier, bigger and more expensive. So, what about these lenses? There is a few zoom lenses and 3 primes lenses.
- Only one wide angle Canon lens is available for now: the Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM. From what I heard, this Stm lens is actually very good. The only downside is the amount of vignetting you’ll get when shooting at 11mm and wide open. The build quality is actually very good, and this is one of the best lenses for capturing wide angle of view – for example in landscape photography. Considering the current low price, you can’t be disappointed with this lens,
- If you’re buying a Canon M body, chances are you’ll get the Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM as a kit lens. It’s not the best lens ever but it will do the job if you begin in photography. The Canon EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM offers already a better image quality, but the focal range isn’t as wide,
- If you’re looking for versatility, the Canon EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM could be perfect for you. This “long lens” offers the equivalence to a 28-240mm lens on a 24×36 body. This is already enough to do some wildlife or close-up shots. In my opinion and from what I read, this Canon lens is better than the Tamron Di III 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 VC, the only lens you can currently compare it with,
- The Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM is a great small pancake lens. The sharpness is already impressive at the center wide open, and even borders are quite good. Only the extreme borders are soft at this aperture. At f/4, everything will clearly improve. As the Canon 11-22mm lens, vignetting is the main issue on this lens at max aperture. If you’re interested in this focal length, have a look at the new Viltrox AF 23mm f/1.4 M. It’s a great lens, with a good AF, and better handling of vignetting (the Viltrox is better at f/1.4 than the Canon at f/2 on this matter). Regarding sharpness, it seems as good as the Canon 22mm, or even better in the corners. Think about it!
- The Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM is the only Canon macro EF-M lens offered, and it has a great reputation,
- The Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM also has a good reputation. If you’re hesitating, you may consider the Viltrox AF 33mm f/1.4 M, which is half the price of the Canon,
- Finally, regarding telephoto lenses, Canon only offers the Canon EF-M 55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM. If you want something better, you won’t have much choice and will have to go for a Canon EF lenses for Full Frame.
If you are curious, you can check the page dedicated to lenses for the Canon EF-S mount, the mount for Canon APS-C sensor DSLR lenses.
Adapter rings for the Canon EF-M mount
For those who have Canon EF and EF-S DSLR lenses, there is an EF-EOS M adapter ring that allows you to use your EF (full-frame) and EF-S (APS-C) DSLR lenses on a Canon EOS-M mirrorless camera such as the Canon M10, M100, M200, M5, M6, M50, etc. Some people still seem to complain about slower autofocus with the use of some EF lenses.
-> Check the ring on the Amazon
For those who are wondering, there is no possibility to attach a Canon RF-mount lens (Canon full-frame) to an EOS-M body. The two mounts cannot be compatible, even with an adapter ring. Therefore, it is impossible to place an RF-mount lens on an EF-M mount, and vice versa. The fact that Canon decided to release the Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM in September 2018, at the same time as the release of the Canon RF mount, suggests that the brand may still be interested in this EF-M mount. Conversely, Nikon announced in 2018 the discontinuation of its Nikon 1 mount.
Lenses from third-party brands for the Canon EF-M mount
Unless I’m mistaken, only Sigma, Tamron and Viltrox brands offer lenses with autofocus.
Sigma lenses for Canon EF-M
To my knowledge, Sigma currently offers three lenses with autofocus for the Canon EF-M mount. They are very well appreciated by users and the feedback is quite good for quality lenses with large aperture at f/1.4.
Lens | Type of lens | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary | Wide angle | 16mm | f/1.4 | 67mm | NO | YES | Amazon B&H |
Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary | Standard | 30mm | f/1.4 | 52mm | NO | YES | Amazon B&H |
Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary | Standard | 56mm | f/1.4 | 55mm | NO | YES | Amazon B&H |
Canon lenses are great, but Sigma also offers (for now) 3 lenses with auto focus, with an f/1.4 maximum aperture and at a cheaper price. With these 3 bright lenses, you’re going to be able to use fast shutter speed without increasing too much ISO’s.
- The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN is a very wide-angle lens with an overall very good build quality (though it’s not a small one). Equivalent to a “24mm” full format lens, this is a bright lens offering a very decent quality wide open at f/1.4, but the corners quality does fall apart. Stopping to f/2.8 will improve sharpness across the image field. Whether soft corners at max aperture is important for you or not will depend on your practice. I wouldn’t recommend it for astrophotography, it won’t really matter for shallow depth-of-field scenes (for example for street photography). For the price (400$), it’s overall a great Price/Performance ratio,
- The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN is in direct competition with the Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM, which is of very good quality. From all the tests I’ve read, both lenses has quite the same image quality, the Canon being slightly sharper at full aperture. But the Sigma is being cheaper than the Canon, it could be a better deal overall,
- The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN is also a great lens to consider in the already very busy 50mm range, as it does exist as many autofocus lenses as manual ones. This 56mm, greatly built, delivers very good quality at f/1.4 and an outstanding one on the image field already at f/2. The bokeh is renowned to be very good and you could easily blur your background. There are a little bit of vignetting and distortion, but nothing to be afraid of as it can be corrected in post-production.
Note that this 3 lenses are also available for Sony E, Micro four thirds (m4/3) and Canon EF-M mounts.
Tamron lenses for Canon EF-M
Tamron currently offers only one lens for the Canon EF-M mount (with autofocus): a telephoto zoom lens. This is the kind of standard lens you can use for numerous domain: landscape photography, portraiture or even some close-up shots. From what I read so far, the sharpness offered by this lens is decent and not especially good at the longest focal length (200mm). For almost the same price (and knowing that both lenses offer image stabilization), I will rather choose the Canon EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM. The Tamron has a longer reach though but is heavier than the Canon.

Samyang / Rokinon lenses for Canon EF-M
Samyang / Rokinon offers many lenses for the Canon EF-M mount, actually more lenses than Canon! You can choose from fisheye, wide-angle, standard, telephoto and macro lenses. Some of these lenses are clearly serious and quality options, if you don’t mind manual focusing.

Laowa lenses for Canon EF-M
Laowa has recently introduced lenses for the Canon EF-M mount, including a 65mm ultra-macro, detailed in the table below.
Lens | Type of lens | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye | Fisheye | 4mm | f/2.8 | - | NO | NO | Amazon B&H |
Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D | Ultra wide angle | 9mm | f/2.8 | 49mm | NO | NO | Amazon B&H |
Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 CF APO | Standard | 33mm | f/0.95 | 62mm | NO | NO | B&H |
Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO | Macro | 65mm | f/2.8 | 52mm | NO | NO | Amazon B&H |
To my knowledge, Laowa currently offers only three manual focus optics:
- The Laowa 4mm f/2.8 Fisheye is really a very special lens. This compact lens allows to take pictures with a 210° angle of view (almost behind it then). From the tests I could read, image quality is quite good, especially if you close the aperture a stop or two. Chromatic aberrations are however quite often visible (at the edge of the image). Having an ultra-short focusing distance (8cm), this lens will allow you to take very original pictures. With a close composition to the subject, you will see the world differently,
- The Laowa 9mm f/2.8 Zero-D is an ultra wide angle lens rather well reputed as well. The quality of construction is considered to be very good. It is quite simply the lens with the widest field of view for the Canon EF-M mount. Full aperture images are considered to be very good, but quite soft at the edges and corners. Closing at f/4 improves the overall picture. However, there is a very strong vignetting (-4EV) at full aperture, and distortion is almost non-existent.
- Finally, Laowa offers the 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO, another manual focus one. Everything I’ve read about it was nothing but good stuff. The construction quality is very good, and the image quality is just extraordinary, even at full aperture (although the corners are a bit less good). You won’t really find an equivalent macro lens in terms of focal length for the Canon EF-M mount. Its price remains excellent for a lens of this quality. If you want to get into macro photography, this is clearly the lens I recommend, without hesitation!
Handevision lenses for Canon EF-M
A little-known brand, Handevision offers only one single fixed focal length lens, with a very wide constant aperture at f/0.85. This 40mm lens will be for example perfectly suited for portrait shots and/or low light conditions, with a field of view equivalent to an 80mm on a Full Frame camera. Optically, this lens is reputed to be very good with the existence of 10 lenses in 8 groups.
Lens | Type of lens | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Handevision Ibelux 40mm f/0.85 | Standard | 40mm | f/0.85 | 67mm | NO | NO | Amazon |
Zhong Yi lenses for Canon EF-M
The Chinese brand Zhong Yi offers a few manual focus lenses for this EF-M mount. Two of them are quite particular macro lenses. Offering a magnification range of 4.5x to 4x, the 20mm is a very special lens for very close-up shots, greater than life-size pictures of small insects/objects without needing extension tubes or any macro photography accessories. Feedbacks on the 85mm f/2.8 1-5x Super Macro aren’t so great, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Finally, a short word on a great lens: the ZY Mitakon Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 II. Equivalent to a 50mm on a full frame body, this lens seems unanimously considered as being of very good value. Performances are known to be very good wide open in the center. Borders and corners are less sharp, but I guess you won’t buy an f/0.95 lens to shoot at f/11. I would recommend this lens for low light pictures, street photography and even portraits. There’s a little bit of flaring and chromatic aberrations but it’s quite well controlled though. For less than 500$, you’ll get a very good bright manual focus lens.
Lens | Type of lens | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |

Kamlan lenses for Canon EF-M
To my knowledge, Kamlan currently offers only a few prime manual focus lenses. Kamlan especially sells a very nice bokeh lens: the Kamlan SainSonic 50mm f/1.1. From the tests I have read about it, this lens is quite good. This standard lens obviously does not offer the very best in terms of image quality, but I think that people interested in a lens with such a large aperture will not buy it for that reason. It will be bought rather for a creamy effect and very nice background blurs with these 11 aperture blades. Of course, the lens does have optical defects (flare, loss of contrast, quite soft on the edges/corners). However, it is sold at a very low price (150$) and for those looking for a bokeh machine (which is known to be very good), or shooting in low light conditions without increasing ISOs, it is in my opinion a very good lens to consider!

Meike lenses for Canon EF-M
Meike offers about a dozen lenses for the Canon EF-M mount. Obviously, we are far from the quality offered by Canon lenses or some third-party brands, but they all cost almost less than 150$. For those wanting to try a particular focal length, it may be worth a try!

7Artisans lenses for Canon EF-M
In line with cheap third-party brands offering manual-focusing lenses, the Chinese brand 7Artisans is getting more and more popular. You will find some standard large-aperture lenses, such as the 7Artisans 35mm f/0.95, which enjoy a very good reputation, as does the Mitakon 35mm f/0.95. This lens, mounted on a Canon M APS-C body, will give a 50mm field of view on a full frame camera. From all the tests I have read, and especially for its price, this 35mm f/0.95 from 7Artisans is a real gem. For those looking for an ultra-fast standard prime lens allowing to produce beautiful backgrounds, to shoot in difficult light conditions, this is clearly a no-brainer!

Not to be confused with the 7artisans 35mm f/1.2, the Chinese brand TTArtisan offers a single prime large aperture lens, the TTArtisan 35mm f/1.4. This lens is suitable for portrait photographers, as well as for street or close-up photography. Tests obviously show (for this price) that it does have some optical defects: important vignetting at full aperture, important coma, flare/ghost also present. The image quality remains decent in the center at full aperture, but edges and corners are really very soft. If you want to improve sharpness in the center, you will have to close at f/4-5.6 but the corners won’t improve though too much. Also, I don’t particularly recommend this lens for landscape and/or architectural photography. However, the quality of the out-of-focus area is reputed to be very good, soft bokeh and allowing, with this large f/1.4 maximum aperture, to capture beautiful details highlighted. If your budget is limited, this manual focus lens remains a good choice for less than 100$. You don’t take a big risk here!
Viltrox lenses for Canon EF-M
Lens | Type of lens | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |

Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.4 M | Standard | 56mm | f/1.4 | 52mm | NO | YES | Amazon B&H |
I recently added on this page the three Viltrox lenses, which made some noise as soon as they were released! What can I say about them then? First, the three of them will be perfect for low-light photography thanks to their f/1.4 aperture. You will be able to create really nice bokeh with them.
- From what I read, the Viltrox AF 23mm f/1.4 M is a pretty good lens, especially for such a low price. The center performance is decent at full aperture (f/1.4) but borders and corners are far behind, and quite weak actually. The sharpness improves everywhere at f/2.8 and the sweet spot is around f/4-f/5.6. There is nothing to complain about vignetting, distortion or chromatic aberration. The build quality is considered to be good and the lens comes with a petal-shaped lens hood, made of metal. To sum-up this is a pretty good AF lens for only 350€,
- We could almost write the same thing about the Viltrox AF 33mm f/1.4 M than we did for the lens just before. It has great build quality, good AF, center is quite good at maximum aperture but borders/corners are clearly soft. Everything improves at f/2.8, even contrast. From the price (half of the Canon EF-M 32mm f/1.4 STM), I would say you can’t go wrong with this Viltrox lens,
- Finally, Viltrox released a nice lens for portrait: the Viltrox AF 56mm f/1.4 M. Once again, it seems that this lens is quite good and you’ll get your money’s worth! You don’t have any lens like this from Canon and it will directly compete with the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN | Contemporary.
Opteka lenses for Canon EF-M
I updated this section with some Opteka lenses I’ve just found. For those interested in wide-angle lenses, Opteka offers in particular a 12mm lens with a very wide angle of view, and for a pretty cheap price (less than 200€). Other more standard prime lenses like the 28mm and the 35mm are also available at interesting prices. For anyone loving distortion on pictures, the Opteka Fisheye 6.5mm lens has a rather good reputation for a price that is once again very affordable.

If you are still hesitating about which brand to choose for your next mirrorless camera, I also wrote a page listing all the Fujifilm X lenses (for an APS-C camera).
Hey man, not sure if you’re still updating this page, but there are a ton of new third party EF-M lenses which keep coming out so this list is out of date. Would love to see you update this list! All of us EF-M owners depend on you, for this is the most comprehensive list on our lens mount out there. I know I sure do.
Cheers!
Lin
Hi Lin,
Thanks for your message. A lot of third-party lenses new ? Not sure about this at all 🙂 EF-M mount is quite old now, but it’s true that some third-party lenses released lenses recently. I will updated my list this month with lenses I can found for this mount. Don’t hesitate to share this liste around if it helps !
Thanks,
S.

Hope that helps. Thanks again for this excellent resource!

Thanks. Unless I’m wrong, there’s no 12mm AF for Canon EF-M mount. It’s for Fuji X and Sony E mounts.
