It had been quite a while since we’d tested a place to stay here in Guadeloupe. The opportunity came up very recently after our wedding this summer, in 2025. It was Mélanie’s birthday in early September and, since her mother was still around, I decided to organize a lovely surprise by treating her to a night in an ecolodge: TropicAngel in Pointe-Noire. We didn’t know the place, but I had already mentioned it in my recent article that rounds up all the best lodges and ecolodges in Guadeloupe. If you’re looking for this kind of accommodation, don’t hesitate to check it out: you’ll surely find your gem for your stay.
Given that we’ve been living on the islands since the kids were born (both were born in Tahiti, as a reminder), we don’t often get the chance to slip away and spend a quiet evening and night. So this was the moment. As I was saying, I kept the surprise for Mélanie until the very last moment, and it was only upon arriving at TropicAngel that she discovered where she was going to spend the evening! A nice surprise, right?
If you are looking for seaside accommodation, feel free to check out our guide to the best seaside accommodations in Guadeloupe.
If you’re wondering, this is in no way a partnership with the ecolodge. We fully paid for our stay on site and our opinion is of course entirely honest and based on our experience. In any case, we loved the place, and it seemed obvious to write an article to make you want to discover this little green haven tucked deep in the mountains.
Alright, let’s go, I’m taking you to discover these magical places! So here’s our complete review of TropicAngel Lodge in Pointe-Noire, Guadeloupe.
If you’re looking for another gorgeous accommodation, in a different style and closer to the beach, you’ll never be disappointed by the Jardin des Îlets in Bouillante. Don’t hesitate to come read our review.
Our experience at TropicAngel
We had to be a bit sneaky with Mélanie, who was still around, to make the booking, but it turned out to be a superb experience. We left Saint-Claude to arrive at 3 p.m. in the town of Pointe-Noire, after a 1-hour drive. The weather is magnificent and it’s incredibly hot right now. I didn’t know the road that climbs to the lodge, and it’s frankly splendid all on its own: you’re in the middle of tropical forest with huge lianas hanging almost down to the road. It sets the mood! A few kilometers higher, we finally arrive at the “TropicAngel” sign.

Arrival and discovering the grounds
As I was saying, it takes about a 10-minute drive through the forest above the town of Pointe-Noire to reach the ecolodge, which is clearly isolated. It’s a bit of a double-edged sword: personally, it’s exactly what we were looking for — calm, serenity, no noise and nature all around. Of course, if you’re looking for a place to party with some buzz, keep moving.
At the end of a long lane, we finally arrive on site and discover a splendid environment. You’re truly lost in the middle of the forest: you hear just the sound of crickets and birds, nothing more. Knowing that it’s low tourist season in Guadeloupe, I have the impression the lodge is almost empty, which will be confirmed by the managers whom we meet right afterward. Only two accommodations are booked this weekend, so there’s little chance of us getting in each other’s way.

We quickly meet the managers at the lodge reception, which is truly splendid. From here, the view over the town of Pointe-Noire and the surrounding sea is breathtaking… This is also where they live, and clearly there are worse places, haha ! We then head off with them to discover our lodging for the night: Kazamour. I’ll talk about it below, but the lodge is made up of several dwellings and rooms, with different choices depending on your desires and budget. Personally, I chose this one because there was a shower and a whirlpool bathtub, all with a sea view.
We enter the heart of the lodge and walk down the main concrete path that runs through the different dwellings. Frankly, I’m repeating myself, but the place gives off an extraordinary vibe. You’re really in the heart of nature. Even if it feels like some areas could use a little refresh, we’re so happy to be here!
We continue down to the bottom of the slope and go take a look at the relaxation area. The lodge has a very nice small pool and several fish pedicure pools. For those who don’t know, these are pools set up with fish that eat the dead skin on your feet. We discovered this about ten years ago in Thailand, in several tourist spots. There are also several shelters fitted out with mattresses and cushions to rest in the shade by the pool. Honestly, it’s great ! Yes, you can tell it’s missing a bit of maintenance and that some places could use a refresh, but it absolutely didn’t stop us from having an excellent time here.

Exploring Kazamour
After this little relaxation tour, we continue on to our dwelling: the famous Kazamour. We’re instantly won over by this beautiful wooden dwelling. You enter through the kitchen, fully fitted: you’ll find everything you need for an overnight stay, but you could easily stay for a week. There’s a fridge, a gas stove, a coffee machine, a teapot, a microwave and all the necessary dishes. In short, everything is there if you want to be autonomous and cook on site.
Personally, we took the option with a caterer who comes to deliver the meal (I’ll talk about it a bit later). We’re also told that breakfasts, included in the package, will be delivered directly into the kitchen through the window, around 7:30. Honestly, it’s great.

We then discover the main room, which is simply splendid. Everything is wood, and what immediately catches the eye is the open bathtub and shower with a sea view. I don’t know if we’d ever had this type of view in our previous accommodations, even in French Polynesia. You can already picture yourself taking a nice hot bath while looking at the sea: happiness isn’t far off. The main room is big enough, and on our left there are only fields as far as the eye can see. We feel nicely secluded, and it feels good.
On the bedroom side, we discover a beautiful room with a king-size bamboo bed, perfectly decorated with a huge mosquito net. We’re going to be comfortable. Mélanie isn’t aware yet, but we have an appointment at 5 p.m. for a couples massage. We have about 1½ hours left, so we decide to head back toward the pool.
Relaxation session and couples massage
We use this time before the massage to settle in the shade under a shelter. The place is really pleasant, there are only two other people with us. We take the opportunity to try the fish pedicure again. I didn’t remember the sensation, and honestly, it’s pretty funny ! It tickles a bit, especially when the bigger fish come to take care of your feet.
We also enjoy the pool which, even if small, cools you down nicely given the heat. I also take a few more photos: it had been a while since I’d taken the camera out, and I happened to have a new lens to test, the Viltrox PRO 85mm f/1.4. A real gem if you ask me, especially for the price! In short, each of us keeps busy for a bit, and the time for the massage arrives quickly.
At 5 p.m., we head back up to reception and meet the two masseuses. Little surprise: I recognize one of them, who was already there when we got a massage at Parc aux Orchidées, during my marriage proposal. Small world!
We settle under a shelter with a very pleasant little breeze. No need to go on and on: the massage was perfect. We spent an hour side by side, and it felt so good… After a month non-stop with family, it’s really nice to be just the two of us again.

Once the massage is over, we head back down to our lodge to enjoy a hot bath with a view of the sea and the sunset. It feels amazing to be able to chat quietly, with no one around, and simply take time for ourselves, without the kids.
If I had to find one small downside, it would be the meal we booked with the caterer. It was already in the fridge when we arrived at 3 p.m., which I thought was a shame. I would have preferred a delivery around 6:30 or 7 p.m., with the dishes still hot. As it was, we had to reheat the starter and the main course in the microwave, which wasn’t anything special. The meal was fine, but nothing more. Then again, we were isolated: going to a restaurant would have meant a 15-minute drive back to the town of Pointe-Noire, and we couldn’t be bothered. So it’s still very convenient to have this option, even if it’s not the meal of the century. Plus, I think we saved money: if we’d gone out, it probably would have cost us more, haha !
Let’s just say the massage relaxed us well: we fall asleep peacefully around 9 p.m.
The next day: breakfast and relaxation
Obviously , we woke up with the day at 05:30 Period we wait peacefully Colon they bring us breakfast which arrives around 07:30 Period as much as we had been rather disappointed with the meal the night before the breakfast is frankly very good Then there is a small homemade fresh fruit salad homemade yogurts Coffee and tea available as well as bread butter and jam Period it’s more than enough For us in any case. And being able to have breakfast With the view over the vegetation comma it’s priceless.
We’ll spend a few more hours enjoying the pool and the fish pedicure, haha. Honestly, we had an excellent time.

What you can do from TropicAngel
After this overview of TropicAngel, you’re surely wondering what you can do in the area. Take my word for it, you’re actually very well located on the Côte-sous-le-Vent and there are plenty of things to do nearby. I can’t list everything, but you can notably consider:
- Discovering Parc aux Orchidées (and getting a massage while you’re at it)
- Visit the Maison du Cacao (reservation now required)
- Going for a swim at Saut d’Acomat (very nice)
- Spending some time at the Guadeloupe Zoo (Parc des Mamelles): a very nice spot in gorgeous nature
- Taking the Route de la Traversée: enjoy the beautiful local scenery to make the most of the rivers and why not a short hike at the Maison de la Forêt (short) or a slightly longer one to the Mamelles Pigeon
- Discovering the Cousteau Reserve in Bouillante: I invite you to read our complete guide to learn how to explore it (kayak, boat, paddle, etc.)
- Why not the Parc de la Source to discover a garden, vanilla cultivation and other plants
- Go bathe in the hot springs of Bouillante: we also wrote an article on all the hot springs in Guadeloupe.
I’ll stop there, but you get the idea — there’s really plenty to do around this accommodation!
In any case, I hope our story about the time we spent on site made you want to discover the place!
In the same style, but still quite different, we tested and approved the Jardin des Colibris in Deshaies. Our review will undoubtedly make you want to check it out for your stay in Guadeloupe!
See you soon,
