List of Sony FE lenses for full frame cameras
This page gathers all the lenses designed to be used on Sony Full Frame mirrorless cameras, i.e. for the brand’s FE mount. Here you will find all the lenses from Sony, but also from a lot of third-party brands offering lenses suitable for Sony Full Frame cameras. For the majority of third-party brands, lenses are manual focus lenses (except when specified in the article). By the way, we summarize in an article, all the best Sony lenses.
In October 2013, Sony decided to release its first Full Frame mirrorless camera, the α7 and α7R (which have since been discontinued). Since then, Sony continues to produce different full frame cameras. In the order of release:
- The Sony α7S : 12,2 MP, released in 2014
- The Sony α7 II : 24,3 MP, released in 2014
- The Sony α7R II : 42,4 MP, released in 2015
- The Sony α7S II : 12,2 MP, released in 2015,
- The Sony α9 : 24,2 MP, released in 2017
- The Sony α7R III : 42,4MP, released in 2017
- The Sony α7 III : 24,2 MP, released in 2018
- The Sony α9 II : 24,2 MP, released in 2019
- The Sony α7 R IV : 61MP, released in 2019
- The Sony α7S III : 12,2 MP, released in 2020
- The Sony α7C : 26,2 MP, released in 2020
- The Sony A1 : 50.1 MP, released in April 2021
- The Sony A7 R V : 61MP, released in october 2022
All of these bodies are still produced by Sony. In fact, we describe the main cameras in a full article dedicated to Sony mirrorless cameras. We mention in detail everything you need to know about the main specifications of the recent cameras.

Of course, nothing prevents you from using Sony FE lenses on an APS-C camera of the brand, like the α6600 (the last one from Sony). However, you should know that there are Sony lenses dedicated to Sony APS-C bodies (Sony’s “E” symbol). They are generally lighter, smaller and cheaper.
As a reminder, you will have to take into account the crop factor, which means that if you use a lens like the Sony 50mm f/1.8 FE on an APS-C body, you get the equivalent of a 75mm field of view.
You can sort the tables on the page according to the characteristics that interest you, such as focal length, stabilization or maximum aperture of the lens.

Sony FE Lenses for Full Frame
The range of Sony FE lenses for full frame is quite complete (much more than the Sony APS-C lenses). I wanted to break down all the lenses by focal length, by grouping together:
- Wide angle (WA) and ultra-wide angle (UWA): focal lengths less than 20mm (UWA) and from 20mm to 35mm (WA),
- Standard focal lengths: focal lengths from 35mm to 75mm,
- Telephoto lenses: focal lengths beyond 75mm,
- Macro lenses: intended for macro photography (there are currently 2 of them at Sony)
If you are looking for a portrait lens, we wrote a comprehensive guide with all the lenses that we consider to be the best for portrait photography for a Sony mirrorless camera.
Sony FE wide-angle and ultra-wide angle lenses for full frame
For landscape and architecture photography enthusiasts and if you need very wide focal lengths from Sony, you can choose between several ultra-wide angle zooms and a few fixed focal lengths lenses. Please note that the Sony 12-24mm f/2.8 GM and Sony 12-24mm f/4 G do not allow you to use standard screw-in filters. You will need to use a special filter holder system. I need to update my article on this subject, but I detail here the special filter holder systems for the Sony 12-24mm f/4 G.

Sony FE Macro Lenses for Full Frame
To my knowledge, there are only two lenses dedicated to macro photography from Sony (see table below). However, I invite anyone interested in this field to look at third-party brands. Sigma also offers (with autofocus) the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG MACRO Art but especially the brand new Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN MACRO Art which is considered to be better than the famous Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS. Sigma hit hard on this one. Tokina also offers a well-known lens (with AF), the Firin 100mm f/2.8 Macro FE.
If you have a smaller budget and don’t mind manual focusing (macro photography is not a field where AF is absolutely necessary), several third-party brands (discussed below) offer macro lenses, such as the: Samyang 100mm f/2.8 ED UMC Macro, the Meike MK-85mm f/2.8 Macro, the 20mm f/2 4.5x Super Macro / 85mm f/2.8 1-5x Super Macro (from Zhong Yi), or several well-known lenses from Laowa or Voigtlander. Everything is detailed in the tables below.
Lens | Type | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sony 50mm f/2.8 Macro | Macro | 50mm | f/2.8 | 49mm | NO | YES | B&H Amazon

Third-Party Brand Lenses for Sony Full Format cameras
Knowing that Sony has been offering for quite some time now the possibility for third-party brands to produce lenses suited for the FE mount, a lot of brands offer lenses for Sony full-frame cameras. Here is a summary of what I found so far. If you find any lenses I didn’t mention (or third-party brands), feel free to leave me a comment at the bottom of the article.
Sigma lenses for Sony FE Full frame
Sigma differentiates two types of lenses for this FE mount. The Sigma DG HSM Art lenses are lenses originally built for DSLR cameras but which have been adapted for the FE mount. Since then, Sigma has decided to produce lenses directly adapted to the Sony full-frame bodies, under the Sigma DG DN acronym. They are lighter and generally smaller than those produced initially for DSLRs (obviously). All Sigma lenses have an Autofocus. As a reminder, “DG” refers to lenses produced for full frame cameras (unlike “DC” for APS-C).
Sigma has also just released a new series, called “I Series”. For the moment, four lenses have just been released under the abbreviation “DG DN I”. These lenses are thus built for full frame cameras. They will be available in January 2021.
If you want more information, we’ve put together a comprehensive guide detailing the best Sigma lenses for Sony mirrorless cameras.
Sigma DG HSM Art lenses
Here is the list of Sigma’s lenses produced first for DSLR and then adapted for the Sony FE mirrorless mount. Even if there are truly good lenses in this list, I don’t particularly recommend them because of their heaviness. Sigma has also started for some time to produce lenses directly adapted to mirrorless cameras, denominated Sigma DC DN. You will find for example the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art or the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art (which also exists in “DG HSM”), two superb lenses much more compact and offering a better image quality!
Lens | Type | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |

Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art | Ultra wide angle | 14mm | f/1.8 | - | NO | YES | B&H Amazon

Sigma DG DN lenses
The lenses below are the lenses proposed by Sigma, directly produced for the FE mount. The recent arrival of the 105mm Macro, an absolute revolution in the world of macro at Sony, at a price even lower than the “best macro so far”, the Sony FE 90 mm F/2.8 Macro G OSS.
A few words about the lenses I consider being really interesting to look at more closely:
- The Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art is still a very good quality alternative, much more “affordable” than the 12-24 and 16-35mm f/2.8 from Sony. The only catch if you’re a landscape photographer who like polarizers/ND: you can’t place classic filters,
- The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art remains the best 24-70mm f/2.8, ahead of the Sony version which costs twice as much (except at 24mm). If you are looking for a standard f/2.8 lens, this is the best option to consider. Those on a tighter budget may want to look at the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III (slightly inferior image quality but cheaper lens),
- The Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art and the f/1.4 version are also great lenses. For those looking for a wide aperture 35mm lens on a budget that is still “okay”, the f/1.4 version is excellent,
- For fans of environmental portrait (or indoor, if you have the distance), the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art is still the best 85mm for a full frame Sony camera,
- It’s the same text for macro fans who will be able to enjoy the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN MACRO Art which, for less money, does much better now than the long reputed Sony 90mm.
Here it is! Sigma has just announced their latest addition to the Art series – the 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras, available in E and L mounts. This lens is the logical successor to the previous DSLR version, the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM, and is more compact and lighter. According to early reviews, the Sigma has a nice quality build, featuring the brand’s new HLA autofocus, and delivers stunning optical quality with excellent sharpness at the center from full aperture, improving slightly up to f/2.8. While the weight and size are average compared to the Samyang 50mm f/1.4 AF II, which is lighter and slightly cheaper, and offers very good optical quality too. Overall, theis tropicalized lens priced at €950 seems fair to me.
Sigma DG DN Series I lenses
Here are for now the four Sigma lenses of this new “I Series” for Sony FE. From the reviews I gathered, I would say that the Sigma 24mm f/3.5 DG DN I C is probably still a bit expensive for the quality offered, compared to the other 24mm available for Sony FE. The Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN I C is a very nice lens, and the feedbacks seem to be very good. Maybe the Samyang 35mm f/1.8 FE AF can be worth considering if you are looking for a quality 35mm but at a lower price? Feedback from portrait photographers on the Sigma 65mm f/2 DG DN | C is excellent.
Lens | Type | Focal length | Max. aperture | Ø filter | Stabilization | Autofocus | Best Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sigma 17mm f/4 DG DN I C | Wide angle | 17mm | f/4 | 55mm | YES | YES | B&H |

Tamron lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Here is the list of Tamron lenses fitted for the Sony FE mount. They all offer an Autofocus and clearly offer some very nice alternatives at a price much lower than Sony lenses.
Here is the list of Tamron lenses adapted for the Sony FE mount. They all offer Autofocus, and they clearly are very nice alternatives at a much lower price than Sony lenses. I won’t go into detail about all the lenses, but to mention only the ones I consider truly great:
- The Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD remains the best “cheap” alternative for an ultra-wide angle zoom for a Sony FE full frame camera,
- The Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 offers excellent value for money for a wide-angle lens. If you don’t need a large aperture, this is clearly a lens you can consider, especially since it offers a 1:2 magnification ratio (for proxy),
- The Tamron 24mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 is excellent and could almost be compared (in terms of image quality) to the Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM, sold for 4 times more,
- The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III has excellent feedback for a standard wide-aperture zoom, three times cheaper than the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM for example,
- The Tamron 35mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 is also a very good 35mm to consider if you are not looking for a very bright lens. Its price defies all competition. Think about it alongside the Samyang 35mm f/1.8 FE AF, which has better image quality for almost the same price as well as a better aperture,
- The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD is again a superb alternative to the extremely expensive Sony f/2.8 version. Not to mention the fact that this is a lightweight and compact lens.
Zeiss Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Zeiss offers a range of lenses suitable for the FE mount from Sony, both with Autofocus and with manual focus. The two tables below summarize all the lenses.
Zeiss lenses with autofocus
Zeiss offers a few autofocus lenses, always displaying incredible build quality but at a relatively high price. To mention only two worth mentioning, the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 Distagon T* is an excellent lens, perfectly built, with an all-weather construction, a very good image quality and a good compacity. The only drawback is its high price, which is not necessarily justified in my opinion. It remains however “cheaper” than the best one 24mm Sony lens now: the Sony 24mm f/1.4 GM. Finally, the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 Sonnar T* has an excellent reputation for portrait photographers, but in my opinion again, its price is quite high. For the same price, I would rather consider the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art as it offers better image quality, at least from the reviews I’ve had.

Tokina Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Tokina offers a bunch of lenses with (and without) Autofocus, listed below. Among the most interesting lenses to consider, you can have a look at the Tokina Firin 20mm f/2 FE AF – even if, in my opinion, given its image quality, size/weight and mainly its price, I don’t really recommend it compared to other 20mm lenses for full frame Sony cameras, like the Tamron 20mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 (better image quality, weight and much lower price). The Tokina 85mm f/1.8 ATX-M FE remains in the same line since you have better lenses elsewhere I think, offering a better image quality and a lower weight. I think about the excellent Samyang 85mm f/1.4 FE AF (for almost the same price and a much better image quality and bokeh) or the Samyang 75mm f/1.8 FE AF (an excellent value for money).
Another lens that could be worth mentioning is the Tokina Firin 100mm f/2.8 Macro FE. The lens has a rather good reputation and is much cheaper than the famous Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS, which is certainly very good, but twice as expensive. For 200€ more than the Tokina, macro fans from Sony FE will have to consider what’s best in the world of macro photography currently: the Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN MACRO Art.

Rokinon/Samyang Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Samyang offer a range of lenses suitable for Sony’s FE mount. The lenses with autofocus are much newer and offer very good optical quality for a price much lower than Sony. If you’re on a tighter budget, this is clearly a brand to consider!
Samyang lenses with autofocus
Samyang offers a wide range of fixed focal length lenses with autofocus for the Sony FE mount. Depending on your photographic practice, you will surely find what you are looking for. The majority of Samyang lenses with AF are still a good choice. I tell you about it below the table, by providing you information on the different lenses!
By the way, if you want to know more about these lenses, I wrote a full guide detailing the best Samyang (and Tamron) lenses for a Sony mirrorless camera.

Here are some detailed recommendations on the different lenses from Samyang. I’ll only talk here about the lenses I really recommend:
- Let’s start with the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 FE AF. This is in my opinion the only “cheap” alternative if you’re looking for a 14mm with AF. There are 14-24mm or 12-24mm zooms from Sony or Sigma, but their prices are much higher. This wide-angle lens offers a decent image quality, but quite soft at full aperture. You will have to close down quite a bit before seeing things improve. Its AF is correct without being fast. It does not have an all-weather construction either. However, it is compact, relatively light and offers a good image quality between f/8 and f/11. For less than 600€, this is still a lens worth considering for those looking for a “cheap” 14mm,
- The Samyang 24mm f/1.8 FE AF has just been released, and according to the first online reviews, it is one of the best 24mm lenses available, not far behind the Sony 20mm f/1.8 G but for half the price. To be confirmed, but for about 500€, it is surely a very good lens to consider for wide shots, both indoor and landscape. The f/2.8 version of the 24mm, although half the price, is still quite average,
- If you are considering a 35mm lens from Samyang, I particularly recommend the Samyang 35mm f/1.8 FE AF, which offers a good all-round lens, relatively homogeneous, for less than 400€. Image quality is good in the center, but more modest in the corners. This little 35mm weighs only 200g and has an all-weather construction. In my opinion, the f/1.4 version is not worth it and remains more expensive, heavier, and without an all-weather construction,
- Special mention for the Samyang 75mm f/1.8 FE AF which is perfect for outdoor portrait photography. Its large f/1.8 constant aperture allows you to blur backgrounds and easily isolate your subjects. For its price (and its compactness), there is no doubt in my mind about considering it,
- Finally, the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 FE AF remains one of the best 85mm lenses currently available. Offering superior image quality to the Sony 85mm f/1.4, it’s still 3 times more expensive. If you are looking for a nice portrait lens, then you won’t be disappointed with this 85mm.
In fact, I wrote a full review of my Samyang 35mm f/1.8 AF FE, a very good lens for a budget-friendly price.
Rokinon/Samyang manual focus lenses
There are a lot of Samyang manual focus lenses. I don’t particularly recommend them, especially since Samyang decided to produce high quality lenses with Autofocus. Note that in 2020, Samyang decided to update two of these lenses: the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 MK2 MF and the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 MK2 MF.
The Samyang 14mm f/2.8 MK2 MF is an improved version (better built, and with more elements) of the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Asph. Unfortunately, on this new version, the image quality does not really improve. At full aperture, sharpness is average and you will have to close to f/4 to get something good. Note that there is an autofocus version of this lens (but which costs twice as much without being really better): the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 FE AF (I do not particularly recommend it). Samyang also released the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 MK2 MF which leaves a mixed impression with a very soft sharpness at full aperture. In the same range and budget, I would rather recommend the Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 FE II, better on all points (for about 350€). If you have a higher budget for an 85mm with AF, then I recommend the excellent Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 FE (see table above) which offers, with the SIGMA DG DN 85mm f/1.4 Art (but twice as expensive), the best in the current market of 85mm.

7Artisans Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
The Chinese brand 7Artisans offers some manual focus lenses discussed below. The 7artisans 35mm f/1.4 can be an interesting lens for photographers looking for beautiful bokeh. This lens can also be interesting in low light. For about 220€, it is worth considering.

Kamlan Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
As far as I know, Kamlan only offers one lens for Sony full frame cameras. Its f/1.2 large aperture will allow you to shoot with a very shallow depth of field and nice bokeh. However, there isn’t a good image quality at f/1.2, and you will have to close to f/2.8 to get something decent. Thus, I don’t recommend it.

Meike lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Meike only offers manual focus lenses. With a minimum focusing distance of 25cm, the Meike MK-85mm f/2.8 Macro may be a macro lens worth considering if you’d like to get into macro photography at a lower cost. The image quality at full aperture is “just fine”, but if you close between f/8 and f/11 (as usually in macro), it becomes very good. For about 300€, it is conceivable. The long focal length also allows to use this lens for outdoor portraits, but do not expect miracles at full aperture.
The Meike 85mm f/1.8 is also worth mentioning, as it remains a very good surprise according to the reviews. This 85mm with manual focus offers a remarkable quality at full aperture and in the center. The optical defects (vignetting and distortion) are minimal. The lens is compact (less than 400g) and has a good quality of construction, in metal. For about 170€, it is clearly an 80mm MF to consider for those who want to try this focal length at a lower cost. The only real alternative (80mm MF) would be the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 FE, which offers almost as good image quality, but remains heavier and more expensive.

Viltrox Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Viltrox offers a few manual focus alternatives for the Sony FE mount as well as lenses with autofocus. But the arrival of the Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 FE II has changed the game, directly competing with the Sony 85mm f/1.8 for a slightly lower price. A nice alternative according to the first Sony vs Viltrox tests, even if the image quality is slightly lower at full aperture with the Viltrox than with the Sony. I would not particularly recommend the Viltrox 24mm f/1.8 as it offers a very poor image quality at full aperture and on the edges. As an alternative, I would highly recommend the Tamron 24mm f/2.8 Di III OSD M 1:2 for its excellent image quality at full aperture and across the entire image. The 24mm focal length is for example widely used for landscape photography.

Laowa lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Just like Zhong Yi, Laowa offers some very nice alternatives for macro photography at Sony, including the Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe 2X Macro, a macro lens for some crazy shoots!
Voigtlander Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Voigtlander offers very nice fixed focal length lenses for the FE mount, but at quite high prices. Worth noting that several prime lenses will be perfectly suited for low light conditions with large apertures (f/1.2 or f/1.4).
Yongnuo Lenses for Sony FE Full Frame
Yongnuo currently offers only two lenses with autofocus for Sony full frame cameras. The 35mm f/2 offers a very good quality, even if it remains one level lower than the Samyang 35mm f/1.8 FE AF (which is, in my opinion, the best in its category) and the Sony 35mm f/1.8 FE. This 35mm will do very well to shoot environmental portraits, thanks to the possibility to create nice background blur with its relatively large aperture (f/2). The fixed focal length lens (85mm) will be much more suited to capture outdoor portraits for example. The image quality at full aperture is a little behind on the edges, but once closed to f/2.8, the quality is excellent.
